Kemp-Frieden House is named for its historic location in Kemp’s Hotel and the Pennsylvania Dutch word for peace, frieden. The Kemp’s Hotel, originally known as the Levan Tavern, was built in 1740 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. Its most notable piece of history is as a stop for John Adams, the United States’ second president during the American Revolution. Today Kemp-Frieden House is a premier comprehensive residential aftercare facility for men seeking a solid foundation for their recovery journey. Kemp-Frieden House is centrally located in the heart of PA Dutch country about 30 minutes from Reading, Pottstown and Allentown, in Maxatawny Township, Pennsylvania.
